Vanessa Colman

ahedges1@bigpond.com

0458 187 74

Stall 26

Vanessa likes to work in bark and wood, finding pieces that are interesting and making something out of them.

Vanessa starts with bark, making wall hangings, photo frames, trays and other items that look great as a centre piece on a table. No two pieces are ever the same. She also likes putting Australian animals on them.

Steve, Warren & Mick are great entertainers! Playing and singing the hits from the 60s, 70s 80s and requests. they engage the crowd, you and old with lots of fun. Kids are als encouraged to participate playing instruments as well. You will find yourself singin along and dancing around the market. There is also plenty of room for dancing in front of the band.

I have learned crochet, knitting and all sorts of needlework as a child from my mother, who also gave me the love of flowers. My designs are still mostly inspired by nature and tradition and have practical uses as well as aesthetic value, such as home decoration items, fashion accessories and baby attire. I hardly ever make two of the same item, so my work is original and unique.
I recently opened a small shop in Ferntree Gully Village called Blossoms & Treasures which offers an interesting range of handmade (by local arts and craftspeople) and vintage items, gifts, as well as flowers and plants for the home and patio.

Stall 11 - working artist

Over 30 years ago I began painting family pets in oils from photographs and enjoyed some considerable success in this field winning several awards at local art and craft shows. In recent years I have used several other mediums and still paint family pets in acrylics.

Most recently I have gained greatest satisfaction from painting with acrylics and watercolour depicting forest scenes often including Australian animals and wildlife. Several of these paintings have been sold through Sherbrooke Art Society as a member.

Although I have been mainly self taught, I have been able to use my experience and skills over the past ten years while teaching at regular art classes at U3A Knox.

Stall 35

My passion is vintage, has and always will be. I love learning the history of a piece, coveting and enjoying for just a little bit, then sharing with another who feels the same love for old wares. My collection is vast, beautiful and varied. I travel Victoria for my pieces and am always on the lookout for something different and special. Some of my pieces I have photographed tonight, but not in the best light. I have several Depression era glass ware pieces, including pink and green, retro kitchen ware, industrial era lidded jars, vintage silver plate, rust kissed shabby tins, pretty vintage English teacup sets, the list goes on. My collection is definitely not trash and treasure, but beautiful, unique and to be treasured.

Mum and I started making our own soy candles about 8 years ago, because I was spending a fortune buying them all the time.

I enjoyed making them so much, I started selling them at craft markets. They are original and different candles that I haven't seen around before and making them from renewable resources is great as well.

Mum would come and help me at the markets and she makes craft things from things she has grown in the garden. I then started adding to our stall with salt lamps, lanterns and incense.
